Money talks

You need to know what truly motivates many in our Congress. Is it their people (constituents), power, or even principles? The answer is easily MONEY!

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) on Saturday chose to vote yes for the healthcare bill in the Senate soon after she was promised $100 million for her state. According to her however the figure is more like $300 million in FEDERAL funds. She "sold" her vote. Is this the kind of people we want running our government. In arguable the most important piece of legislation in our generation at least one Senator cannot vote without money changing hands. What a sad state of our Congress.

In other areas I can understand these kinds of tactics displayed, but when something is so vitally important to our nation, which everyone on both side of this issue agree, why do we have to auction our vote and sell it to the highest bidder?

If this bill is argued in the Senate and more compromises and "auctions" made for votes it will do nothing but add to the final price tag. These are things never mentioned in the mainstream media.

As of now the bill is estimated to reach into the hundreds of BILLIONS and yesterday $300 million was added to the final price tag, even though on paper it is not there.
Is this the sign of our times, or just politics? Either way it is wrong. People who are motivated by money are in leadership. Is socialism not far behind? What happened to principle driven people? President Obama promised to bring CHANGE to Washington, it sure seems like the same thing all over again, just a higher price tag!!

Is your future safe?

Yesterday Attorney General Eric Holder went before the Senate Judiciary Committee to defend the decision of President Obama to try Khalid Sheik Mohammed(KSM) in a civilian court in New York City. You should know that there are many problems associated with this.

First, in a civilian court people are innocent until proven guilty, and yet the Attorney General himself has implied that these people are guilty even before the trial when he stated, "Failure is not an option."

Second, the victims of 9/11 were those in the towers, plane, and the Pentagon. We do not need another round of victims to pop up here. KSM is living for this moment so he can once again propagate his cause, this time with an open forum in the courtroom. It does disjustice to those who gave their life that day in the attack to let this one man relive his "triumph" through our court system.

Third, a civilian trial is a trial of peers, for this is truly the American way. If his peers are honestly chosen then the prosecution has no chance of winning a conviction. For his true peers will wholeheartedly agree with his fundamental jihadist ways. We endanger not only our way of life but our way of freedom and the court system when we open this up to a civilian court.

Fourth, our current President has tried to down play this "War on Terror." He refuses to call it a war. If this current President had been living in 1941 what would he have called the attack on Pearl Harbor? Are not a direct attack on us a direct act of war? We are at war with an unseen enemy. One that does not wear a traditional uniform, but clothes themselves in a robe of violent ideology and dons these clothes against all who oppose them.

Fifth, why is this even brought to a civilian trial? Why are they brought before a system who tries murders, not soldiers who kill innocent lives? There are a lot of security issues at stake here. What a tragedy that in the effort to bring ONE person to justice many truly innocent lives are put at risk.

Our future generations are constantly being jeopardized by ONE man, and no, this man is not KSM. It is the person who promised to defend us from all harm. Opening a civilian case for a military act? Is this really protecting us, or trying to shift the climate of America to a more tolerant view against those who try to destroy us. Is our future truly safe when these kinds of actions are carried out? I think you know the answer.

America and the downward slope

If a person were found in a bar everyday drinking heavily, and someone came in after months of this and told the person they had a problem because they were an alcoholic many of us would say the same thing. Even if the person drinking denied it, which they most likely would do, we would all see right through it. In fact, the drinker might even ask this person how they knew. When asked, one of the best answers that could be given is, because I am too.

A while back Pravda, a Russian newspaper originally founded in 1912, had an editorial about the state of things in the United States. This was quite enlightening that a former Communist country is urgently warning the US against the path we are attempting to go down.

Here is an excerpt...
"First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives."

How sadly true this is. If you mention a movie how many of our teens would be able to say all of the actors in the movie, but if a chapter in the Bible is mentioned how many would be able to say what story is contained there? Not many. Pop culture has replaced knowing God.

Here is another excerpt...
"Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America."

It is truly amazing that those in other countries can see through the facade of what is truly happening in our country. Equating Sunday services to circuses? I hang my head in shame for the mockery we have turned God, and to a lesser extent, church into. Christ DIED for the church, and look how we have repaid him. Just as Jesus took control and drove out the money changers we need the same spirit to sweep OUR nation, so God can give us the strength to drive out the weeds that shake in the wind, bowing to whatever blows their way.

The last excerpt....
"The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe."

If others can see the rate of our decline why can we not see it? For those who are unaware, Zimbabwe records one of the most highest employment rates in the world.... 80%. If we keep spending money we do not have for whatever reason or justification we can conjure up, we will fail. If ANY household in the US spend as the government has in the last 3 months, they would at best, wind up in court, with a very gloomy future. Is our national government any better?

It all boils down to this. Are we going to trust our country to provide for us, or trust God to provide for us. I believe with this last Presidential election our nation has spoken. Others around the world have even taken notice. The government has become the new god of America, we have sadly left the true God.

Most Important Thing

The Annual Spelling Bee is a remarkable thing. Each year it never ceases to amaze me how many different words our English language has. Different questions from the participants excite the competition. Questions like "What is the origin? What part of speech is it? What is the definition?" These all, in some way, help these scholars to decipher the spelling of each word. How much time and effort must go into this. Each young person displays a vast knowledge of etymology and vocabulary, way beyond even the average person.

If I was given an opportunity to be involved in one of these competitions I would easily fail. Once six and seven letter words were given I would become quite challenged and be defeated. These young people however are not only getting most of the spelling of these obscure words correct, they do so in front of many, and under extreme pressure.

To quote a Yahoo news story of the day:

"Among the spectators was Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, who kicked off the championship rounds by telling of a bout with nerves that caused her to drop out of a sixth-grade spelling contest.

'I know that confidence is the most important thing you can give a child,' she told the audience."

I think it is wonderful that the wife of the second highest ranking official in our land would attend one of these championships. So many times emphasis is placed on sports and other achievements that do not really matter intellectually or even long-term. But I do take offense when she speaks to these group of people and says something that is completely false. The day in which we live we need truth to be proclaimed, not lies.

CONFIDENCE is the MOST IMPORTANT THING you can give your child??? If this was true, I could teach my child to be a good thief and liar, not to be worried about being caught, but to be confident in her abilities to NOT get caught.

So this does raise the question, what IS the most important thing I can give my child? I believe it is plain and simple, TRUTH. Truth can never be debated because it is always true, it never changes. True truth is the same for everyone. For instance, I live in the United States of America. This is truth and cannot be debated because it is truth. My children, our children, do not need to learn how to build themselves up, they need the truth of who they are. Many in society today are eagerly trying to build others up around them. to help them feel confident in their life. I submit to you though that this is incorrect and actually the basis of failure. We are just building our house on sand and not on the firm reality of truth, which are the rocks in our life.

It does not suffice for us to build up the next generation, we have done that in our country for at least the last two generations and look what we have to show for it, nothing. It boils down to the fact that people are more concerned with building themselves up instead of obeying the simple truths that our nation was founded on. Is it by accident that each of our 50 states Constitutions have God mentioned in the first paragraph? I think not, that is because not so long ago, people realized what truth really is, it is not building up ourselves to make us a great nation, but it is obeying the truth that is clearly given to us by God and His Holy Word. It is not building confidence in ourselves that we need, it is building our confidence in the ONE and only True God that all of us need to strive for!

Whitewall to stop global warming?

The White House is taking white to the extreme. Professor Steven Chu, the US Energy Secretary is proposing that all roofs around the world be painted white so as to reflect the suns rays and slow down global warming. In theory this might sound wonderful but in actuality it is insane. While we are at it why don't we make it mandatory for all vehicles to be white also. Making the world's population required to wear white hats when outside would surely curb the propaganda based global warming conspiracy. Has Professor Chu even taken into account though the emissions that will be produced in creating all of this white paint. The demand for white paint will increase dramatically causing a spike in white paint prices and then it will take longer for our global economy to recover from the worldwide recession. Is he willing to take this responsibility? I believe not. Is the US government going to bail us out by sending each household 5 gallons of white paint to help subsidize this giant undertaking? We could even call the campaign "A Bale to Pale." I am sure it is all a misunderstanding though.
But knowing all of this brings us to a very interesting conclusion. The intellectualism of our Forefathers must have been acutely high because hundreds of years ago with the completion of the President's residence the decision was make to paint it white. Did the people back then know of the coming global warming before the scientists knew. What else did they know that has remained secret to us for these centuries. Now, we can truly see, firsthand, the wisdom this country was founded on. They got this one right, what else were they right about and we are just too slow to catch on.
